A revolution in Google adwords!

The SeoMoves Pay-Per-Click (PPC) product suite manages paid search campaigns for clients, with two objectives:
1. Decrease cost per conversion
2. Increase conversion volume

SeoMoves is working with over 70 clients in 11 countries and has in average reduced cost per conversion by 58% and increased conversion volume by 67%. Here is how it is done!

The process of engaging with SeoMoves has two phases:
1. Analysis phase
2. Execution phase

PPC Analytics Phase – Campaign Audit
The first step is to capture what your objective with your PPC campaigns is; (1) Cost per Conversion, or (2) Cost per revenue (% of revenue). SeoMoves will then request MCC (My Client Center) access to your Google AdWords account through the Google vendor program.

Through the Google API SeoMoves will extract historic performance data from your account, match it with your objective by running it through our application (a set of algorithms). You will receive an Audit report specific to your account.

The Audit report will give you keyword level analysis of your campaigns:
- Number of keywords with too high (CPC)
- Number of keywords with too low (CPC)
- Number of keywords with the right CPC
- Number of keywords that should be de-activated
- Examples of your keyword specific CPC changes for 25 sample keywords

If you like what you see, moving to the next phase only takes minutes.

PPC Campaign Execution Phase
The results of the PPC Audit establishes the spend profile for each keyword. SeoMoves will use its proprietary methodology to rebuild campaigns (SeoMoves campaign(s) will be inserted into your accounts with Paused status) with a highly granular structure. Your existing campaigns will be left 100% intact, serving as your insurance policy should you at any point decide to disable SeoMoves and revert to your current campaigns.

Once you launch the SeoMoves campaign (and Pause your existing campaigns) results will come quickly; cost per conversion immediately and increase in volume over the next weeks. The process we used for the Audit runs daily to ensure your campaigns meet your objectives, and will even grow stronger over time as more data is harvested.

Managing a SeoMoves campaign is easy, all you need to do is a few minutes every week to tweak ad copy and evaluate landing pages effectiveness using our methodology.

This is real and the results speak for themselves. If you want to decrease your adwords spend and increase conversions contact me urgently to test this revolutionary offering.

If anyone would like assistance or would like to meet up at Pubcon please email me. We have a small group of Australians who are travelling together and we are arranging a tour of the Zappos office while in Las Vegas. I will be in New York from November 4th working on www.ShopNewYork.com.au.

Trading Post print publication is DEAD!

Tell em they're dreaming......

Trading Post announced today that it will become an exclusively online trading platform from November with the last print publications on sale from 29 October 2009.
This is a brave move considering that the user and seller experience on TradingPost.com.au is basically crap. Some reports from industry insiders say the Trading Post blew over 250 million taking on eBay.com.au
I was quoted in Trading Post press release of May 2008 welcoming them as competitors to eBay; however we have not heard a word from Trading Post since. I have talked with the few sellers that have listed on the site and they tell me it’s not worth the effort.
Well Telstra BigPond, what are you going to do to deliver a competitive offering to both buyers and sellers?
Trading Post you might want to line those ducks up before killing the print side.

PS - Start by changing your dumb title tag on your home page and stop the practice of using duplicate home pages – Seo 101.

The future is here and you better listen.

Tom Cruise uses gloves with sensors - so yesterday!

Consider what Project Natal is set to deliver (See Post: Thursday, June 4, 2009) This is our future of communication in the gaming, entertainment and shopping world. We are currently talking about web 2.0 concepts; however you don’t have to look far into the future to see what web 3.0 offers. “Minority Report” functionality is here. Governments across the globe for some years now have the ability to scan the crowds at major sporting events using software to map the faces of the crowd and predict those that are threats. They use pure mathematics via software algorithm to make the predictions. So the concept of mapping body or facial movements via a simple camera is easy to understand.

After witnessing the interactivity of future plans for project natal (See Post: Thursday, September 10, 2009) one does not have to look too far into the future of what technology, and the applications of this new experience brings.

Corporate’s will lead the way via their ability to deliver the hardware at affordable prices and access to popular content. However as Jonny Lee demonstrates (See Post: Monday, August 17, 2009) independents will still carve out a niche. One thing is sure that the websites we currently operate will be completely different in the next 3-5 years. Everybody should take note of what Project Natal and other advances will deliver. The physical keyboard and controller’s days are numbered. One will look back in 10 years from now and their memory will be a distant as the typewriter or fax is today.

Very exciting and very scary!

PeSA Welcomes changes to eBay Australia

The Professional eBay Sellers Alliance in Australia supports new pricing initiatives announced by eBay Australia today.

PeSA has fought for fair pricing and improvements in the Australian eBay pricing model to give more financial encouragement to sellers, and provide a better platform allowing more profitable sales. In particular PeSA has been a strong advocate for features such as free gallery images, and lower insertion fees for fixed price sales.

The pricing changes eBay has released today are a positive step forward. We believe the changes put forward encourage long term growth on eBay for sellers and a better experience for buyers.

Given the strong shift in the buyer market from Auctions to Fixed Price sales, PeSA is encouraged that there is now pricing advantages for sellers who wish to use a fixed price model by providing for sellers to list more items in a more efficient manner.

The addition of store listings into core search using Bestmatch is encouraging, although PeSA hopes the changes will not have a negative impact on current auction listings and sellers.

To learn more about these significant changes, sellers are encouraged to register for the upcoming PeSA summit in Sydney on August 13th and 14th 2009 for details go to: www.PeSA-Events.com.au

FollowGumby.com is born

I attended an ecommerce conference in Atlanta in June of 2009 and Gumby was one of the prizes of the charity poker event. Mathew Ledford won Gumby and brought him to dinner still fresh in his packaging. After a few drinks and some negotiation, I managed to secure Gumby to return with me to Australia.

I had plans to meet up with friends on the way back to Australia via a weekend in Las Vegas.

Saturday night in Vegas was buzzing and the moon was full. After my shower I noticed Gumby was missing and his packaging was broken. At that moment www.FollowGumby.com was born.

Paul Greenberg from DealsDirect.com.au caught sleeping around!

Paul Greenberg is the Co-Founder

Don't you just HATE IT when YOU are drawn by a negative headline for a positive and honorable cause................TO OBTAIN REDEMPTION PLEASE read on folks.....

St. Vincent de Paul’s CEO SleepOut

This unique event will help to raise money for St Vincent de Paul’s ongoing work in large cities and small towns to address homelessness, domestic violence, unemployment and addiction issues.

Paul and over 150 CEOs will be taking part in this sleepout, which is an even better turnout than expected. There are some very big names getting involved (apart from our beloved Paul!) from the likes of Dick Smith, Fairfax, CBA, and even the NSW government. Knowing Paul, he may be too excited to sleep at all with that many interesting people to talk to!

Paul and all other participants will be spending the night living as a homeless person and will be provided with cardboard to sleep on – strictly no airbeds or mattresses will be allowed. We expect that there may be some escape attempts by those who miss their warm beds and air conditioning, but no one will be permitted to leave until 7am, so tough cookies!
The objective of this unique event is not only to raise money, resources and awareness, but to highlight the harsh realities of homelessness.

You can help this great cause by supporting Paul in the CEO SleepOut and clicking here to donate. You can donate as little as $2, and although even that doesn’t seem much, it all adds up when every cent counts. If you’d like to donate a little more, here are some figures that may interest you:

• By donating $50, you can provide a homeless person with a bed, a meal and a fresh change of clothes for one night.

• A donation of $100 will help equip the Vinnies Night Patrol vans with food and hot drinks, helping to bring friendship and warmth to homeless persons across our cities every night of the year.

• A gift of $500 will enable a homeless person to complete a lifeskills course, preparing them to re-enter the community and contribute to society.

• Your donation of $1,000 will enable a survivor of domestic violence, and their children to make the supported transition from a St Vincent de Paul Society refuge into independent housing.

For more information on the St. Vincent de Paul CEO SleepOut or to see who else is getting involved, you can visit the CEO SleepOut Website.

eBay.com.au, Australia's leading online marketplace, and music market share leader Universal Music Australia have joined forces to create a new music portal on eBay.com.au (play.ebay.com.au) that will give eBay.com.au’s more than 5 million monthly visitors the opportunity to access digital downloads of their favourite songs.

Deborah Sharkey, Managing Director of eBay Australia and New Zealand Pty Ltd said: “You can buy practically anything on eBay.com.au. The launch of the music portal means that members are able to access digital versions of a vast array of their favourite songs at a low price. eBay is excited about the opportunity and is looking forward to being able to provide access to great music to millions of eBay.com.au users.”

Universal Music Australia, through the eBay.com.au music platform, will make available their entire digital and physical catalogues to eBay.com.au users. In addition to this, through Universal Music Australia, digital products from Sony Music Entertainment will also be made available.

George Ash, Managing Director Universal Music Australia commented: “We are incredibly excited to be partnering with eBay.com.au to offer their members access to music. The machine seams to be stuck on “Blame the global economic downturn” setting.

Political Predictions Volume 1

Australia Election Close

I keep hearing from people connected from both sides of politics saying that we will have an election around November this year. According to these sources Kevin Rudd will use the next sitting of parliament try to push legislation doomed for blockage and then use the double dissolution trigger. It seams both sides of politics are committed to this course.

Who will lead what?

If Peter Costello doesn’t make a move in the next month, Malcolm Turnbull will unsuccessfully contest the election.Joe Hockey will maintain a number two role and I am sure that one day he will be Prime Minister. My prediction for the next Labor PM is Bill Shorten.

What do you think? Comments welcomed.

Melbourne Twitter Gathering.

I attended a twitter event last Thursday night called “Tweet Up Mellers” hosted by Melbourne TwitStar - Sam Mutmer.

I was intrigued to attend and found my two hours there to be delightful and educational. I had the pleasure of meeting Sam Mutmer who hosted the night and I wish to congratulate Sam on her initiative. Sam is a definite connector and maven (If you have read Malcolm Gladwell’s, The Tipping Point, you will know what I mean).

I had an extremely interesting conversation with William Donovan. William is Web Designer/Developer Specialist with the Bureau of Meteorology. This bright young man has a sparking future ahead of him, and I will watch with interest as William’s career unfolds.

George Hall was also very interesting. George was front and centre as a Twitter volunteer during the recent Victorian Bushfires. George relayed messages helping people with information during the bushfires that proved to be very effective.

My old friends Al Black from Reach Local and Jason Watson from Tomato Source also attended and were in fine form.

I highly recommend the next “Tweet Up Mellers” and I suggest that you join Sam for her Twitter updates.

Conroy's Q&A Prep Sheet Leaked

Conroy's Q&A prep sheet leaked

Censorship & “The Politics of Fear”

Communications Minister Stephen Conroy appeared on ABC’s Q&A using child safety as an excuse for setting up secret censorship of the internet. Labor promised an end “politics of fear” however last night Conroy was in full flight.

The rest of the world is scratching their collective heads and wondering how Australians could be so stupid as to go down the internet censorship road. The minister has been advised that it is a flawed plan by many industry experts and “Comrade Conroy” deserves any flack that is coming his way.

Watch the episode here.

Pay per click is unsustainable.
As an online retailer you find a sweet spot with a product using PPC. You gear up with stock purchases and labour. At some point one or more competitors find the same spot and the keyword auction begins. The auction ends with margins decimated.

Google organic search results are the gift that keeps giving. High page search query results carry more consumer credibility - as they are not paid for.

Everyone can see that Google now looks like a newspaper with paid ads across the top and right hand side. As an advertiser we understand that being in the content section is where the action is.

see: www.SeoMoves.com for more details.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Union leaders, bureaucrats, artists & journalists now run Australia. Well meaning people - but delusional in their ability to govern. We now have to wait years for current policies of the Australian Labor party and union movement to play out. God help the low income earners who they claim to represent. They will be the ones that suffer hardship over the coming years, with Labor determined to set back the clock relating to union power and industrial relations.

Labor now has the opportunity to hide behind the world downturn as the reason for their future policy failures. Why else would they be talking down the economy? It is hard to admit that thanks to the previous government, Australia was best placed financially going into this downturn, and we had the best prudential regulation in the world. They of course admit this fact when they are overseas attending economic conferences but are reluctant to say it back here in Australia.

The people of Australia were sold a story by the union movement during the last election that their bosses were ripping them off, and that they were hard done by. Work choices were sold by Labor as an evil curse on the nation. A curse, that provided the lowest unemployment in our history.

How do you think employers feel? Motivated to employ people? How would you feel to be painted as person that just takes advantage of others? Labor used and continue to use class division as a political weapon.

Some argue that the resources boom provided the good times and we just got lucky. Well thank goodness the Liberals cleaned up the unions that were blocking our ability to deliver from the ports.

Now Labor want to change the laws relating to political donations to give them an advantage at the expense of democracy, providing Labor and their union buddies an unfair advantage over the coalition and independents when it comes to election spending.

As the philosopher George Santayana once famously said:
“Those who cannot remember the past
are condemned to repeat it.

The Fashion Conscience

The Fashion Conscience

For immediate release
12th February 2009

The online designer shoe store for Australian shoppers, ShopNewYork.com.au, has announced that it will donate 25 cents in every dollar received to support the Red Cross Australian Bushfire Appeal.

will donate 25% of all money spent by its customers in February and March.

Principles Jonathan Garriss and David Topkins have supported numerous charitable efforts since founding their business after leaving successful careers on Wall Street. They have raised over US 1.3 million (A$2Million) for US charity organisations and are now determined to find a way to assist Victorian communities facing an overwhelming tragedy.

“I am proud to be associated with an American company that truly demonstrates a commitment to the community it serves through its charitable actions. David and Jonathan run a medium sized, privately owned business. These two gentlemen have raised $2 million for charity since 1999 and are determined to assist the bushfire appeal.” said Phil Leahy, Victorian based Director, Asia Pacific, ShopNewYork.com.au.

“We’ve been very fortunate in our careers and have always believed that those than can give back, should,” said Mr. Topkins. “Hopefully our willingness to donate a generous percent of sales from ShopNewYork.com.au will make it easy for people to support the wildfire victims. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families suffering from this tragedy.”

ShopNewYork.com.au presents Australian consumers with the opportunity to purchase an impressive range of international designer shoes at affordable prices. With a low shipping price of $9.99 and a local returns policy the company will be concentrating its efforts to donate as much as possible to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.

After a challenging close to 2008 - I am happy to report that I am back on track.

2008 saw the closure of Online Market Experts and eventual sale of my business Entertainment House. My team of 18 people, I am happy to report has moved on to new positions at other companies. I wish all of them well.

During this challenging time I lead a campaign against eBay making Paypal the only payment method on the Australian eBay site. As president of PeSA, I conducted meetings with eBay management here and in the US seeking remedy of behalf of Australian sellers and then rallied our legal team, the ACCC and the ABA for a successful halt to the action. Three months latter I held a 2 day eBay summit for 350 people at Flemington racecourse to help reconnect eBay with the seller community.

Oh and a friend that convinced me to lend him a large some of money in 2007 (for 30days) still has not paid any back.

In October I launched my new business venture www.ShopNewYork.com.au and in November, I was offered a new position as Director, Asia Pacific with www.SeoMoves.com

After spending over $1,000,000 on advertising and customer acquisition via eBay with Entertainment House, I have been convinced over the past few years that there must be a better way to acquire customers. My good friend John Wieber launched SeoMoves and invited me to a Pubcon (SEO conference) in Vegas early November. Pubcon was a sort of religious experience for me – My direction became crystal clear.

John is an amazing person and I am thrilled to be working with him and being able to talk with him daily. John has the ‘keys to the kingdom’ to helping websites rank on Google, and he has proven himself in the world’s toughest online market – America.

www.SeoMoves.com.au will change the SEO landscape in Australia. We are focused on delivering results that Australian companies have not witness before. Both John and I understand what it costs to run an online business and we are passionate about THE most important aspect of an online business – Search Engine Optimization (Optimisation).

If I can give one piece of advice to anyone from my personal experience of over 300,000 successful online transactions, it would be this – Start with SEO before you do anything.

If you are reading this blog, love shoes and live in Australia please visit www.ShopNewYork.com.au. You may use the discount code; AUVIP for 10% off our massive range of designer shoes. Shipping is only $9.99 and if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase or it doesn't fit, you are welcome to return it to us in Australia for exchange or refund. No expensive international return shipping!

I will try to make blogging a more regular activity now I know of its importance in Google’s eyes.

Thanks for reading.
