Smartphones are the future of online eCommerce - Google stats

I attended a Google presentation at Ad:Tech Sydney last week and Google conducted various education sessions. Some interesting facts about mobile:

By the end of 2011, an estimated one billion people around the world will be connected to the mobile web and 52% of all Australians will own a smartphone. Because of the explosion of web-enabled mobile devices, mobile usage is now on a hockey-stick trajectory: searches on smartphones and tablets have increased by 4x in the last year, and the world of mobile apps continues to engage mobile users.

It is predicted that the end of 2014 over 90% of Australians will have a smartphone.

PeSA Internet Conference July 21st & 22nd Gold Coast Convention Centre.

I am pleased to announce that this year’s conference is again shaping up to be the best ever.
Regular USA guests speakers Jonathan Garriss & John Lawson are looking forward to presenting, and this year we will have a special Keynote from Scot Wingo. Scot is the CEO & founder of Channel Advisor. I have had the pleasure of seeing Scot present many times in the USA over the past 10 years and I am excited to have Scot provide Australian online retailers up to date data on online trends and insights into the future of the sector. Channel Advisor last year managed $2.6 Billion in gross merchandise volume on behalf of its customers.

Other new USA speakers include Peggy Duncan presenting on productivity, Poster king Adam Hersh of Poster Revolution, John Wieber & Julie Del Cueto of Seo Moves, and many other local experts and industry leaders.
